.A POTENT LATE DECEMBER STORM WILL CONTINUE TO BRING SNOWFALL TO
PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN IOWA THROUGH TONIGHT. THE
GREATEST AMOUNTS SNOW WILL OCCUR MAINLY EAST OF INTERSTATE 35.
GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY WITH BLOWING
SNOW REMAINING A THREAT.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IS CANCELLED...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS CANCELLED THE
WINTER STORM WARNING. A BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT
FROM 6 AM TO 6 PM CST SUNDAY.
ADDITIONAL SNOW IS NO LONGER EXPECTED TONIGHT. HOWEVER...NORTHWEST
WINDS WILL PERSIST AT 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH. THIS WILL
PRODUCE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...ESPECIALLY IN RURAL AREAS. THE
WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE A BIT STRONGER ON SUNDAY WITH ADDITIONAL
REDUCTION IN VISIBILITIES IN OPEN AREAS. SNOW IS ALSO EXPECTED TO
BLOW OVER HIGHWAYS AND ROADS PRODUCING ICY CONDITIONS.
A BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED
DUE TO STRONG WINDS BLOWING SNOW AROUND. USE CAUTION WHEN
TRAVELING...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.

SNOW WILL GRADUALLY END ACROSS THE WARNED AREA THROUGH MIDNIGHT.
NORTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH WILL CREATE
BLOWING SNOW AND WILL FURTHER REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO NEAR BLIZZARD
CONDITIONS AT TIMES...MAINLY IN OPEN AREAS. EVEN AS THE SNOW
ENDS...THE THREAT OF BLOWING SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE
REMAINDER OF THE NIGHT AS THE STRONG WINDS CONTINUE. SNOWFALL
TOTALS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.
THE STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS WILL PERSIST INTO SUNDAY WITH BLOWING
SNOW REMAINING PROBLEMATIC. VISIBILITIES ARE EXPECTED TO BE
REDUCED IN OPEN AREAS MAKING TRAVEL HAZARDOUS. IN ADDITION...THE
BLOWING SNOW WILL DRIFT ONTO HIGHWAYS AND ROADS PRODUCING ICY
CONDITIONS.
A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW...
SLEET...AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. IN THIS INSTANCE SNOW
ALONG WITH STRONG WINDS WILL BE THE PRIMARY CONCERN. THIS WILL
MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT.
