THE AREA THIS EVENING. IMPRESSIVE AMOUNTS OF SLEET...FROM ONE TO
TWO INCHES...FELL TODAY SOUTH OF A LINE FROM WISCONSIN RAPIDS TO
LAKE PEPIN...TO FARIBAULT MINNESOTA LINE. THIS WAS ON TOP OF ABOUT
3 INCHES OF SNOW. FURTHER NORTH WHERE SNOW FELL ALL DAY...AMOUNTS
WERE IN THE 6 TO 7 INCH RANGE. FURTHER SOUTH IN NORTHEAST IOWA AND
SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN...A GLAZING OF ICE AROUND ONE-EIGHTH OF AN
INCH HAS OCCURRED...WITH AN INCH OF SLEET. TRAINED WEATHER
SPOTTERS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT INDICATED DANGEROUS DRIVING
CONDITIONS WITH SNOW AND ICE OVER ALL ROADS. TRAVEL IS DANGEROUS
AND SHERRIFS REPORT VERY FEW CARS ON THE ROADS...A SIGN THAT MOST
PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THE DANGER.
HEAVY SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE EVENING NORTH OF HIGHWAY
10...WITH TOTALS BY MORNING IN THE 6 TO 10 INCH RANGE. SLEET WILL
GIVE WAY TO FREEZING DRIZZLE SOUTH OF HIGHWAY 10 THROUGH THE
EVENING...WITH A GLAZING OF ICE AROUND...OR LESS THAN...ONE-
TENTH OF AN INCH EXPECTED. WITH WINDS IN THE 20 TO 25 MPH
RANGE...AND GLAZING OF ICE ON POWER LINES...SOME POWER OUTAGES ARE
EXPECTED. WARMER AIR WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTH OVERNIGHT...AND
MAY PROVIDE RAIN OR DRIZZLE AT TIMES IN NORTHEAST IOWA AND
