Emergency Management/NWS Snowfall forecast

According to information just provided by the National Weather Service, it appears that we may receive a fairly significant accumulation of snowfall beginning Friday night around midnight, into Saturday morning and mid-day.

Friday, 3-6 PM, the freeze line is expected to be in far NW Oklahoma, with temperatures in central OK in the mid to upper 30’s. Rain is likely in central portions.
Friday, Midnight, 1-3” of snowfall likely in the NW portion of the state, transition from rain to snow in our area.
Saturday, 6 AM, Northwest of the I-44 corridor snow accumulations will likely be 1”-3.” Some here although actual amount uncertain.
Saturday, later morning, the greatest potential rate of precipitation and most rapid movement of the freezing line to the SE will occur during this timeframe, into the afternoon. 4” to 6” possible in central and NW OK, with the freeze line cutting a path SW to NE, dividing the state into 1/3 of the SE portion above freezing.
Saturday, evening, I-44 corridor and NW portions will have the heaviest amounts, likely 4”-6”, of “heavy and wet” snow.

Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing throughout Saturday. There are still some uncertainties with this forecast as it is several days away, updates will be provided as the event draws nearer.
