Snow Advisory For Quad Cities Tonight

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE QUAD CITIES IA IL
254 PM CST THU FEB 28 2008
...ANOTHER ROUND OF SNOW TO IMPACT REGION THROUGH THIS EVENING...
.A PASSING DISTURBANCE FROM THE NORTH PLAINS WILL BRING MORE SNOW TO
THE AREA. ADDITIONAL NEW SNOW TOTALS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED
WITH LOCALIZED HIGHER AMOUNTS UP TO 4 INCHES POSSIBLE BY LATE
EVENING. WITH TEMPERATURES AND SURFACES BELOW FREEZING...THE SNOW
WILL QUICKLY ACCUMULATE ON MOST EXPOSED SURFACES AND AREA ROADWAYS.
MANY ROADWAYS REMAIN ICE AND SNOW COVERED FROM PREVIOUS SNOW EVENTS
AND WITH THE ADDITIONAL SNOW COULD MAKE TRAVELING PARTICULARLY
SLIPPERY.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN QUAD CITIES HAS ISSUED A SNOW
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT.
PERIODS OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL DEVELOP AND CONTINUE UNTIL
LATE EVENING WITH ADDITIONAL NEW SNOW AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES
EXPECTED IN THE ADVISORY AREA WITH LOCALIZED 4 INCH TOTALS
POSSIBLE. THE REGION MOST LIKELY TO RECEIVE 4 INCH TOTALS ARE
NORTH OF HIGHWAY 30. MANY AREA ROADWAYS REMAIN ICE AND SNOW
COVERED FROM PREVIOUS WINTER EVENTS AND WITH TEMPERATURES
REMAINING BELOW FREEZING...WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED WITHIN AN
HOUR OR TWO OF THE SNOW STARTING. TRAVELERS ARE URGED TO SLOW DOWN
AND PLAN FOR WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
THIS EVENING.
A SNOW ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL
DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLICK...SNOW-COVERED ROADS AND
LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND BE CAREFUL WHILE DRIVING.
