KINNEY/MOYER
..SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL IMPACTS ARE EXPECTED FROM A WINTER STORM
FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING...

IT CONTINUES TO LOOK LIKE SOME OF THE AREA WILL BE AFFECTED BY A
MAJOR WINTER STORM WHICH WILL BE MOVING THROUGH THE WESTERN GREAT
LAKES ON SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS WINTER STORM COULD
POTENTIALLY IMPACT PORTIONS OF THE AREA WITH HEAVY SNOW...STRONG
WINDS WHICH MAY LEAD TO WHITE OUT CONDITIONS...AND SOME ICE
ACCUMULATIONS.

A STRONG LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE QUICKLY NORTHEAST FROM MISSOURI
INTO THE CHICAGO AREA BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON. PRECIPITATION WILL
LIKELY DEVELOP ACROSS THE AREA AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. AT THIS
TIME IT LOOKS LIKE THE PRECIPITATION SOUTHEAST OF AN OELWEIN IOWA
TO WISCONSIN DELLS LINE MAY BE INITIALLY BE A MIX OF FREEZING
RAIN...SLEET...AND SNOW...AND THEN CHANGE OVER TO HEAVY SNOW ON
SUNDAY MORNING. BEFORE CHANGING TO ALL SNOW...THERE MAY BE SOME ICE
ACCUMULATION UP TO A TENTH OF AN INCH. THE REMAINDER OF THE AREA
SHOULD SEE MAINLY SNOW FROM THIS STORM SYSTEM. THE LOCATION OF THE
HEAVIEST SNOW WITH THIS SYSTEM IS STILL A BIT UNCLEAR...AND IT
WILL DEPEND UPON THE EXACT TRACK OF THE LOW PRESSURE AREA.

DUE TO THE STRENGTH OF THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM...THE WINDS WILL
LIKELY INCREASE DURING THE DAY ON SUNDAY. WHEN COMBINED WITH THE
HEAVY AMOUNTS OF SNOWFALL EXPECTED...THIS MAY LEAD TO DANGEROUS...IF
NOT IMPOSSIBLE TRAVEL FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST IOWA...AND WESTERN
WISCONSIN.

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS ALONG AND EAST
OF A OELWEIN TO VIROQUA TO BIG FLATS WISCONSIN LINE FOR LATE
SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY. SNOWFALL ALONG AND EAST OF THIS LINE
OF 6 TO 13 INCHES IS POSSIBLE...WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOW FALLING
SUNDAY MORNING INTO THE AFTERNOON.

OF MOST CONCERN IS THE ARRIVAL OF STRONG WINDS AS THE SNOW COMES
DOWN ON SUNDAY. NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WITH
HIGHER GUSTS...MAY LEAD TO NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS IN OPEN AREAS
OF NORTHEAST IOWA...PERHAPS ACROSS THE RIVER INTO WISCONSIN.
TRAVEL CONDITIONS SUNDAY MORNING WILL DETERIORATE RAPIDLY.

IF PERSONS HAVE TRAVEL INTERESTS ANYWHERE IN EASTERN IOWA...
WISCONSIN...OR NORTHERN ILLINOIS LATE SATURDAY NIGHT OR SUNDAY...
THEY ARE URGED TO RECONSIDER TRAVEL DUE TO THIS WINTER STORM.

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH
SUNDAY EVENING.

PRECIPITATION WILL SPREAD INTO NORTHEAST IOWA AND EXTREME
SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT...POSSIBLY AS A MIX OF
SNOW...SLEET...AND FREEZING RAIN. PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE OVER
TO ALL SNOW RAPIDLY ON SUNDAY MORNING...AND BECOME HEAVY AT
TIMES. CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THAT A BAND OF SNOWFALL
ACCUMULATION FROM 6 TO 13 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE ALONG AND EAST
OF AN OELWEIN IOWA TO VIROQUA AND BIG FLATS WISCONSIN LINE. SNOW
WILL DIMINISH IN INTENSITY SUNDAY EVENING...AND THEN COME TO AN
END EARLY MONDAY MORNING. INCREASING NORTHWEST WINDS FROM 15 TO
25 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS...WILL LEAD TO WIDESPREAD BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW IN OPEN AREAS ON SUNDAY. TRAVEL IS NOT ADVISED IN
THE WATCH AREA.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW...SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
..MAJOR WINTER STORM TO IMPACT THE AREA THIS WEEKEND...

A LARGE AND POWERFUL STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE FROM THE SOUTHERN
PLAINS TO NEAR CHICAGO BY LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THIS STORM WILL
BRING A VARIETY OF DANGEROUS WEATHER TO THE MIDWEST...INCLUDING
SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATIONS SATURDAY NIGHT AND EARLY SUNDAY...AND
SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS SUNDAY AND SUNDAY EVENING. ALSO ON
SUNDAY...STRONG WINDS WILL CAUSE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING SNOW
CREATING NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS OVER PARTS OF EASTERN IOWA AND
NORTHWEST ILLINOIS.

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH
SUNDAY EVENING.

FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WILL DEVELOP OVER THE AREA LATE SATURDAY
NIGHT AND EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. THE FREEZING RAIN MAY BE HEAVY AT
TIMES NORTHWEST OF A FAIRFIELD...MOLINE...FREEPORT LINE. ICE
ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN A QUARTER AND A HALF INCH ARE POSSIBLE IN
THE ENTIRE WATCH AREA. FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY
AFTERNOON ...SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS IOWA INTO ILLINOIS AND
NORTHEAST MISSOURI. MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW IS EXPECTED OVER MUCH
OF THE AREA SUNDAY AFTERNOON. NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL BE
POSSIBLE OVER PARTS OF EASTERN IOWA AND NORTHWEST ILLINOIS SUNDAY
AFTERNOON AND EVENING. NORTHWEST WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH GUSTING
OVER 40 MPH WILL CAUSE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. THE
BLOWING SNOW AND SNOW WILL CAUSE NEAR ZERO VISIBILITIES AT TIMES.

AT THIS TIME...IT APPEARS THAT 6 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW ARE POSSIBLE
NORTHWEST OF A LINE FROM CEDAR RAPIDS THROUGH GALENA. AMOUNTS OVER
THE REST OF THE AREA WILL BE GENERALLY IN THE 2 TO 6 INCH RANGE
WITH THE LOWER AMOUNTS EXPECTED IN WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND
NORTHEAST MISSOURI.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW...SLEET ...AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT WOULD SERIOUSLY IMPACT
TRAVEL. MONITOR LATER FORECASTS FOR UPDATES.
