THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTHERN LOUISIANA
SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI
FAR SOUTHEAST TEXAS
COASTAL WATERS
EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON FROM 1025 AM UNTIL
400 PM CST.
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 80 STATUTE
MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 35 MILES SOUTHWEST OF LAKE
CHARLES LOUISIANA TO 35 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF SLIDELL

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
DISCUSSION...ORGANIZED/ARCING LINE OF CONVECTION CONTINUES MOVING
SEWD INTO SLOWLY MOISTENING/DESTABILIZING BOUNDARY LAYER. LINE
SHOULD REMAIN ORGANIZED -- AND CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LOCALLY-DAMAGING
WINDS AND MARGINAL HAIL. WITH TIME...ISOLATED CELLS MAY ALSO
DEVELOP IN ADVANCE OF THE CONVECTIVE LINE...AND THUS WITH FAVORABLE
LOW-LEVEL VEERING/SHEAR INDICATED BY AREA VWPS...A TORNADO THREAT
ALSO APPEARS POSSIBLE.
