WINTER STORM WILL MOVE THROUGH THE REGION THIS WEEKEND
LOW PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO MOVE FROM THE SOUTHERN PLAINS TO CENTRAL
MISSOURI BY EARLY SUNDAY. A MIXTURE OF RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA AND SOUTHWEST IOWA, CHANGING TO ALL SNOW
BY DAYBREAK SUNDAY. IN ADDITION, NORTHWEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO
25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH WHICH MAY CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW AS WELL AS NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS IN SOME AREAS AT TIMES
SUNDAY.

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM CST SUNDAY
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN OMAHA/VALLEY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM CST SUNDAY. THE
WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
SIGNIFICANT WINTER WEATHER IS POSSIBLE THIS LATE EVENING AND CONTINUING
THROUGH SUNDAY. RAIN IS EXPECTED INITIALLY THIS EVENING, BUT AS COLDER AIR
FILTERS IN AT THE SURFACE, THE RAIN WILL CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN, CHANGING
TO ALL SNOW BY DAYBREAK SUNDAY. WINDS WILL ALSO BE INCREASING TO 20 TO 35
MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH, CREATING AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND
NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES SUNDAY. UP TO ONE QUARTER INCH OF ICE
ACCUMULATION COULD OCCUR TONIGHT, WITH AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 5 INCHES OF SNOW
EXPECTED ON TOP OF THE ICE LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY. WITH THE STRONG
WINDS EXPECTED AND ICE COVERED POWER LINES, SOME POWER OUTAGES AND DOWNED
TREES MAY BE POSSIBLE.
A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW, SLEET AND ICE ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL
VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN OMAHA/VALLEY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER
ADVISORY, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM CST SUNDAY.
WINTRY WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE REGION LATER TONIGHT AND
CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY. A MIX OF FREEZING RAIN OR RAIN IS EXPECTED
INITIALLY, BUT CHANGING TO ALL SNOW BY DAYBREAK SUNDAY.
WINDS WILL ALSO BE INCREASING TO 20 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH,
CREATING AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WITH REDUCED VISIBILITY AT TIMES
SUNDAY.
UP TO ONE TENTH ICE ACCUMULATION WILL BE POSSIBLE LATER TONIGHT WITH AN INCH
OR TWO OF SNOW POSSIBLE ON TOP OF THE ICE THROUGH SUNDAY.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW, SLEET OR FREEZING RAIN
WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED
VISIBILITIES AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
