Major Severe Weather Outbreak Expected Tuesday And Tuesday Night Throughout The Southern Mid West

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEMPHIS TN
A SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK IS POSSIBLE ACROSS THE MIDSOUTH
TUESDAY. THERE IS A MODERATE RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE ENTIRE
MIDSOUTH.
A WARM, MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIRMASS WILL BE IN PLACE ACROSS THE MID SOUTH
AHEAD OF A STRONG COLD FRONT THAT WILL APPROACH FROM THE WEST. A STRONG
UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL MOVE OVER THE REGION TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND
EVENING AHEAD OF THE FRONT AND RESULT IN SEVERE THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT.
THESE STORMS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAIL AND TORNADOES.
THE POTENTIAL WILL ALSO EXIST FOR A FEW STRONG TORNADOES. AN ADDITIONAL LINE
OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP ALONG AND IMMEDIATELY IN ADVANCE
OF THE COLD FRONT AS IT MOVES ACROSS THE AREA TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY
MORNING.
THE PRIMARY TIME FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE BETWEEN NOON CST AND 10 PM
CST TUESDAY FOR AREAS WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER, AND BETWEEN 4 PM CST
TUESDAY AND 2 AM CST WEDNESDAY FOR AREAS ALONG AND EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI
RIVER. THE STRONG COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP EAST OF THE AREA AFTER 2 AM CST
WEDNESDAY MORNING BRINGING AN END TO THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT.
STRONG WINDS WILL DEVELOP IN ADVANCE OF THE STRONG COLD FRONT TUESDAY
AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE UNTIL AFTER FRONTAL PASSAGE TUESDAY NIGHT. WIND
SPEEDS AROUND 25 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 35 MPH OR HIGHER CAN BE EXPECTED. A WIND
ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE MID SOUTH FROM NOON TUESDAY UNTIL
MIDNIGHT TUESDAY NIGHT.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON MS
A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER EVENT WILL DEVELOP
DURING THE DAY TUESDAY INTO TUESDAY NIGHT AS A DEEP LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM
APPROACHES THE REGION. TORNADOES, SOME OF WHICH MAY BE STRONG, AND DAMAGING
WINDS WILL BE THE PRIMARY CONCERNS. LARGE HAIL WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE WITH
SOME OF THE STRONGER STORMS.
AN INTENSE COLD FRONT WILL TRACK ACROSS THE AREA TUESDAY NIGHT. AHEAD OF
THIS FRONT, DEEP MOISTURE, A HIGH DEGREE OF INSTABILITY AND INTENSE WIND
FIELDS WILL COME TOGETHER TO ALLOW FOR SUPERCELLS PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS
AND TORNADOES TO DEVELOP. ALTHOUGH SUPERCELLS THAT DEVELOP WILL HAVE THE
POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING HAIL, INTENSE WIND FIELDS WILL PRODUCE A HIGHER
POTENTIAL FOR WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS AND TORNADOES. THESE SUPERCELLS WILL
BE LOCATED AHEAD OF A SQUALL LINE THAT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA. THE
PRIMARY CONCERN WITH THE SQUALL LINE WILL BE DAMAGING WINDS WITH A FEW
TORNADOES ALSO BEING POSSIBLE.
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP DURING THE DAY TUESDAY OVER WESTERN AREAS,
BEGINNING BETWEEN AROUND 10 AM AND NOON. THIS SEVERE ACTIVITY WILL REACH
CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE REGION BY AROUND 2 PM TO 4 PM. THE EASTERN REGIONS
WILL BEGIN TO SEE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOP BY AROUND 5 PM TO 7 PM.
IN ADDITION, PERIODS OF HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGER
STORMS. THIS MAY PRODUCE PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS AND IN LOW LYING
AREAS.
AN APPROACHING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL LEAD TO A TIGHT PRESSURE GRADIENT
OVER THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON. WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO NEAR 20 MPH WITH GUSTS
TO 30 MPH FOR THE WESTERN AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE AREA. THE GUSTS
SHOULD SUBSIDE AROUND SUNSET, HOWEVER SUSTAINED WINDS WILL REMAIN FROM 10 TO
20 MPH ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH TONIGHT. A LAKE WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT
UNTIL 6 PM FOR AREAS ALONG AND WEST OF A LINE FROM GRENADA TO HATTIESBURG.
WINDS WILL INCREASE AGAIN ON TUESDAY MORNING OVER THE ENTIRE REGION.
SUSTAINED WINDS WILL AGAIN BE AROUND 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 30 MPH ON TUESDAY.
WINDS WILL BE SLIGHTLY HIGHER OVER THE DELTA REGION WITH SUSTAINED WINDS
AROUND 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS OF AROUND 40 MPH EXPECTED. AS A RESULT A LAKE
WIND ADVISORY WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE REGION ON TUESDAY, EXCEPT FOR
THE MISSISSIPPI DELTA REGION WHICH WILL BE UNDER A WIND ADVISORY.
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE INTO TUESDAY NIGHT OVER THE ENTIRE
ARKLAMISS REGION. TORNADOES, DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL WILL CONTINUE TO
BE CONCERNS THROUGH THE LATE EVENING AND EARLY OVERNIGHT HOURS. THE SEVERE
WEATHER RISK WILL BEGIN TO DIE DOWN AND SHIFT TO THE EAST OF THE WESTERN
SECTIONS BY AROUND 11 PM, CENTRAL SECTIONS BY AROUND 2 AM AND THE EASTERN
SECTIONS BY AROUND 5 AM.
THE ACTIVATION OF STORM SPOTTERS, HAM RADIO OPERATORS AND EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL IN SUPPORT OF SEVERE WEATHER OPERATIONS WILL BE NEEDED
TUESDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT.
