Winter Storm Watch For Pleasant Hill Has Been Changed To A Winter Storm Warning

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE KANSAS CITY/PLEASANT HILL MO
338 PM CST SAT FEB 16 2008
...SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM TO AFFECT THE AREA TONIGHT THROUGH
SUNDAY...
.A UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER WEST TEXAS WILL MOVE INTO
SOUTHWEST MISSOURI BY EARLY SUNDAY MORNING...THEN QUICKLY MOVE NORTHEAST
INTO NORTHERN ILLINOIS BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THIS STORM WILL INITIALLY
BRING IN WARMER AIR ABOVE THE SURFACE...PRODUCING RAIN WHERE
TEMPERATURES REMAIN ABOVE FREEZING...BUT PRODUCE A BOUT OF FREEZING
RAIN ACROSS NORTHERN MISSOURI LATER THIS EVENING. THE ENTIRE AREA
WILL SWITCH OVER TO RAIN FOR A PERIOD TONIGHT...HOWEVER THERE WILL
THEN BE A RAPID TRANSITION BACK OVER TO FREEZING RAIN...AND
EVENTUALLY SNOW LATE TONIGHT IN NORTHWEST MISSOURI...WITH THE CHANGE
FROM RAIN TO SNOW SPREADING EAST EARLY IN THE DAY ON SUNDAY. SNOW
WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES ON SUNDAY...ESPECIALLY FROM THE NORTH KANSAS
CITY SUBURBS NORTHEAST TO UNIONVILLE. AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM WILL BE
THE INCREASINGLY STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WHICH WILL
ALSO GUST AS HIGH AS 40 MPH AS THIS STORM SYSTEM MOVES EAST OF THE
REGION. THIS WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING
SNOW BOTH DURING AND AFTER THE SNOWFALL.

STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM
CST SUNDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
AN UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS THE LOWER MISSOURI
RIVER VALLEY TONIGHT...AND WILL SPREAD A MIX OF WINTER TYPE
PRECIPITATION INTO THE NORTHWEST MISSOURI TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY.
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN AS LIGHT FREEZING RAIN THIS
EVENING...HOWEVER WILL LIKELY CHANGE OVER TO RAIN AS TEMPERATURES
ACTUALLY INCREASE OVERNIGHT. WHILE ICE ACCUMULATIONS ON AREA ROADWAYS
WILL NOT BE SIGNIFICANT GIVEN THE EXPECTED TEMPERATURES...A TENTH OR
TWO OF ICE ACCUMULATION ON TREES AND POWER LINES IS EXPECTED BEFORE
THE CHANGE OVER TO RAIN.
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO TRANSITION BACK TO FREEZING RAIN...AND
THEN TO SNOW IN NORTHWEST MISSOURI LATE TONIGHT...AND IN AREAS FURTHER
TO THE EAST EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. BURSTS OF HEAVY SNOW WILL BE
POSSIBLE SUNDAY MORNING WITH BETWEEN 2 AND 5 INCHES OF SNOW
ACCUMULATING ON TOP OF ANY REMAINING THIN ICE LAYER. THIS WILL LEAD TO
VERY HAZARDOUS...OR NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TRAVEL CONDITIONS. IN
ADDITION...INCREASING NORTH WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40
MPH WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW ACROSS
ROADS...AND GREATLY REDUCE VISIBILITIES AT TIMES.

SLEET...OR ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO
POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

WILL EXTEND FROM FRIENDSHIP AND MAUSTON THROUGH RICHLAND CENTER
AND LANCASTER IN WISCONSIN WHERE 10 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOWFALL IS
POSSIBLE FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING. LESSER
AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED NORTHWEST OF THIS LINE.
DUE TO THE RAPID DEEPENING AND STRENGTHENING OF THE LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM...NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE DURING THE DAY ON
SUNDAY WITH GUSTS AROUND 30 MPH. THESE WINDS COMBINED WITH THE HEAVY
AMOUNTS OF SNOWFALL EXPECTED...MAY LEAD TO AREAS OF BLOWING AND
