...THE WINTER STORM IS EXITING CENTRAL IOWA...
.THE STORM THAT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL OVER MUCH
OF IOWA IS PUSHING EAST. A BRISK WIND WILL BE LEFT IN ITS WAKE TO
PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW IN SOUTHEAST PORTIONS
OF CENTRAL IOWA THIS AFTERNOON.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A BLOWING
SNOW ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CST THIS AFTERNOON.
THE WINTER STORM WARNING HAS BEEN CANCELED.
THE THREAT FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL HAS ENDED. HOWEVER...LIGHT
SNOW WILL CONTINUE OVER THE AREA THROUGH MID AFTERNOON. ADDITIONAL
ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE LESS THEN AN INCH. A NORTHWEST
WIND WILL CONTINUE AT 15 TO 30 MPH HOWEVER CAUSING AREAS OF
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. VISIBILITIES WILL BE REDUCED TO LESS
THAN A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS PROMPTING
THE ISSUANCE OF A BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY. THE WIND IS EXPECTED TO
DIMINISH LATE THIS AFTERNOON ENDING THE THREAT FOR BLOWING SNOW.
A BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED
DUE TO STRONG WINDS BLOWING SNOW AROUND. USE CAUTION WHEN
TRAVELING...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.

OF A TOLEDO TO MELCHER-DALLAS LINE WITH LITTLE OR NO ADDITIONAL
ACCUMULATION EXPECTED. A NORTHWEST WIND AT 15 TO 25 MPH WILL
PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW BUT VISIBILITIES ARE NOT
EXPECTED TO DROP BELOW THREE QUARTERS OF A MILE IN OPEN AREAS AND

SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN AND NORTHEAST IOWA THIS AFTERNOON. THE NORTHERN
EXTENT OF THIS HEAVY SNOW WILL BE GENERALLY SOUTHEAST OF AN
OELWEIN IOWA TO HILLSBORO WISCONSIN LINE. THESE AREAS HAVE
ALREADY SEEN ANYWHERE FROM 3 TO 8 INCHES...AND ANOTHER 1 TO
4 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON. TOTAL SNOWFALL
AMOUNTS WILL LIKELY RANGE FROM 5 TO 12 INCHES. IN ADDITION NORTH
WINDS IN THE 15 TO 25 MPH RANGE WILL CAUSE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING
AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW. TRAVEL IS NOT ADVISED ACROSS SOUTHERN
AND EASTERN CRAWFORD...RICHLAND...AND GRANT COUNTIES IN SOUTHWEST
WISCONSIN...AND SOUTHERN AND EASTERN FAYETTE...AND CLAYTON
COUNTIES IN NORTHEAST IOWA.

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS
AFTERNOON.
SNOW...MODERATE TO HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE TO FALL ACROSS
SOUTHERN AND EASTERN CRAWFORD...RICHLAND...AND GRANT COUNTIES IN
SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN...AND SOUTHERN AND EASTERN FAYETTE...AND
CLAYTON COUNTIES IN NORTHEAST IOWA THIS AFTERNOON. SNOW RATES AROUND AN
INCH AN HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THE HEAVIER SNOW BANDS. THIS
AREA HAS ALREADY SEEN BETWEEN 3 AND 8 INCHES...AND ANOTHER 2 TO 4
INCHES IS EXPECTED TODAY. THIS WILL BRING THE FINAL SNOW TOTAL
INTO THE 5 TO 12 INCH RANGE.
IN ADDITION...NORTH WINDS IN THE 15 TO 25 MPH RANGE WILL CAUSE
CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW.
DUE TO THE COMBINATION OF SNOW AND WIND...TRAVEL IS NOT ADVISED
IN THESE AREAS.
A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW AND ICE
ARE EXPECTED. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS. BE PREPARED
FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION
WHILE DRIVING.
Travel is not advised in parts of central, southern and eastern Iowa at
this time
due to poor road conditions
