THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
CENTRAL AND NORTHERN ALABAMA
NORTHWEST GEORGIA
EAST CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI
SOUTHEAST TENNESSEE
EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 1240 PM UNTIL
600 PM CDT.
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 75 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES EAST OF PINE BELT
MISSISSIPPI TO 25 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF CHATTANOOGA TENNESSEE.

THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS

DISCUSSION...SQUALL LINE CONTINUES TO TRACK EASTWARD ACROSS NORTHERN
AL...WITH EMBEDDED CIRCULATIONS CAPABLE OF DAMAGING WINDS AND
TORNADOES. FARTHER SOUTH...ISOLATED STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP
IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS AHEAD OF THE MAIN LINE. THESE STORMS MAY
BECOME SUPERCELLS WITH A RISK OF TORNADOES...LARGE HAIL...AND
DAMAGING WINDS. THERE IS SOME POTENTIAL FOR STRONG TORNADOES IN
THIS REGION AS WELL.
AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
