THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS
EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 1:35 PM UNTIL 8:00 PM
CDT.
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 70 STATUTE
MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 55 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF
MINERAL WELLS TEXAS TO 45 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF DURANT

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
DISCUSSION...SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ALONG
NORTHERN EDGE OF SURGING SURFACE DRYLINE OVER NORTH CENTRAL TX...AND
IN REGION STRONG DEEP LAYER FORCING OVER SOUTHERN OK. STORMS ARE
LIKELY TO BECOME SUPERCELLULAR WITH A RISK OF LARGE HAIL AND
DAMAGING WINDS. LOW LEVEL VERTICAL SHEAR WILL ALSO BE SUFFICIENT
FOR A RISK OF TORNADOES LATER THIS AFTERNOON AS STORMS MOVE EASTWARD
INTO DEEPER LOW LEVEL MOISTURE.
AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
