750 PM CDT WED MAY 14 2008
THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
CENTRAL TEXAS
EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING FROM 750 PM
UNTIL 200 AM CDT.
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 80 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 70 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 10 MILES NORTHEAST OF DALLAS
TEXAS TO 35 MILES EAST OF NEW BRAUNFELS TEXAS. FOR A COMPLETE

THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS

DISCUSSION...SEVERAL LARGE SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS ARE TRACKING
EASTWARD ACROSS CENTRAL TX...AND WILL MOVE THROUGH THE WATCH AREA
THIS EVENING. STRONG DEEP LAYER VERTICAL SHEAR AND AMPLE
MOISTURE/INSTABILITY WILL PROMOTE A CONTINUED THREAT OF VERY LARGE
HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS. DESPITE RATHER WEAK LOW LEVEL WINDS...DEEP
EASTERLY FLOW AND LOW LCL VALUES WILL ALSO MAINTAIN A RISK FOR A FEW
TORNADOES.
