THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS
FAR SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA
NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST TEXAS
EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON FROM 555 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT.
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 95 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 55 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF
PARIS TEXAS TO 50 MILES WEST NORTHWEST OF DE QUEEN ARKANSAS. FOR

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

DISCUSSION...SUPERCELLS WILL LIKELY CONTINUE DEVELOPING AND MOVING
ENEWD AHEAD OF SURFACE COLD FRONT EXPECTED TO MOVE SWD ACROSS THE
RED RIVER LATER THIS EVENING/EARLY FRIDAY MORNING...AS SSWLY LLJ
INCREASES. INITIAL DEVELOPMENT MAY BE SLIGHTLY ELEVATED WITH
PRIMARY THREAT OF LARGE HAIL. HOWEVER...LOW LEVEL SHEAR WILL
STRENGTHEN WITH TIME THIS EVENING AND WOULD POSE ADDITIONAL ISOLATED
TORNADO/DAMAGING WIND THREAT WITH ANY STORM ROOTING NEAR THE
SURFACE.
