NOW

REGIONAL WEATHER DISCUSSION
AT 5 PM...THE STORM SYSTEM THAT BROUGHT SNOW AND COLD TEMPERATURES
TO THE REGION WAS OVER ARKANSAS. A BAND OF MAINLY LIGHT SNOW
CONTINUED OVER MOST OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA...TO THE EAST OF A LINE FROM
PONCA CITY...TO MCALESTER. THE STORM SYSTEM WAS MOVING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM THE REGION...WITH LITTLE TO NO ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATION
EXPECTED.
THE RAPID DECREASE IN SNOW AND THE ASSOCIATED BRISK NORTHWEST
WINDS...ARE A RESULT IN SINKING MOTION GENERATED TO THE REAR OF THE
SNOW REGION. HIGH PRESSURE ACCOMPANYING THE SINKING MOTION IS
EXPECTED TO BUILD OVER OKLAHOMA AND NORTH TEXAS THIS EVENING...
RESULTING IN DECREASING WINDS. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO
PREVAIL ACROSS THE EASTERN HALF OF OKLAHOMA THROUGH 9 PM...WHERE WIND
CHILL READING WILL AVERAGE 5 TO 15 DEGREES. AREAS OF BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW ARE ALSO LIKELY ACROSS PARTS OF NORTHERN OKLAHOMA.
