REGIONAL WEATHER DISCUSSION
CONSIDERABLE HIGH CLOUDINESS AND SOME LOW CLOUDS OVER SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA
WILL CONTINUE TO SLOW THE WARM-UP TODAY. THE HIGH-LEVEL CLOUD COVER WILL
GRADUALLY THIN AND MOVE EAST THIS AFTERNOON, WITH NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA
EXPECTED TO CLEAR OUT FIRST, AND SOUTHEAST PORTIONS OF OKLAHOMA LIKELY
SEEING THICK CLOUD COVER ALL DAY. EVEN WITH THE CLOUDS, MOST LOCATIONS WILL
SEE TEMPERATURES REACH THE MID 60S TO LOWER 70S, WITH SOME MID AND UPPER 70S
POSSIBLE ACROSS FAR WESTERN OKLAHOMA AND WESTERN NORTH TEXAS.
ALL BUT FAR SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA AND PORTIONS OF WESTERN NORTH TEXAS ARE
ALREADY SEEING AVERAGE WIND SPEEDS IN THE 20 TO 30 MPH RANGE. PARTS OF
NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA ARE ALREADY EXPERIENCING WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH.
THESE VERY STRONG WINDS WILL SPREAD SLIGHT SOUTH AND EAST THROUGH THE
AFTERNOON WHERE A WIND ADVISORY IS CURRENTLY IN EFFECT. THE STRONGEST WINDS
ARE EXPECTED AT LOCATIONS NEAR AND NORTH OF A SAYRE, TO KINGFISHER, TO PERRY
LINE. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT FOR HIGH-PROFILE VEHICLES.
A DRY LINE IS FORECAST TO MOVE INTO FAR WESTERN OKLAHOMA AND PORTIONS OF
WESTERN NORTH TEXAS TOWARD MID-AFTERNOON. AS THIS OCCURS, RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES WILL DROP QUICKLY BEHIND THE DRY LINE AND WILL COMBINE WITH
TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S AND STRONG WINDS TO PRODUCE DANGEROUS WILDFIRE
CONDITIONS.
