...REGIONAL WEATHER DISCUSSION...

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SLOWLY EAST ACROSS
NORTH-CENTRAL...CENTRAL...AND SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA...AND WESTERN NORTH
TEXAS. AT 430 PM...THE FRONT EXTENDED FROM PONCA CITY...TO WESTERN
PORTIONS OF THE OKLAHOMA CITY METRO...TO CHICKASHA...TO WICHITA
FALLS. THE FRONT WAS THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN COOL AND DAMP CONDITIONS
TO THE EAST...AND COLD AND BREEZY CONDITIONS TO THE WEST.
ALONG AND JUST WEST OF THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY...FROM JUST NORTH OF
CHICKASHA ALL THE WAY UP INTO SOUTHERN KANSAS...A THIN BAND OF RAIN
AND SNOW WAS DETECTED. AS THE FRONT MOVES EAST ACROSS CENTRAL AND
NORTH-CENTRAL OKLAHOMA...A BRIEF PERIOD OF RAIN WILL LIKELY SWITCH
OVER TO MODERATE OR HEAVY SNOW. THIS SNOW MAY LAST 30 MINUTES TO AN
HOUR...WHICH MAY RESULT IN LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...MAINLY ON
GRASSY SURFACES. WITH THE ANTICIPATED INTENSITY OF THE SNOW BAND...
VISIBILITIES WILL BE REDUCED TO LESS THAN ONE-HALF MILE...AND EXTRA
TIME AND CAUTION WILL BE NEEDED FOR THE RUSH HOUR PERIOD. DUE TO THE
WARM GROUND TEMPERATURES...THIS SNOW WILL LIKELY MELT THROUGH THE
EARLY EVENING HOURS...BUT FALLING TEMPERATURES THIS EVENING WILL
LIKELY RESULT IN SOME ICY SPOTS ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.
ELSEWHERE...LIGHT SNOW WAS FALLING OVER THE PANHANDLES INTO
NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA. POCKETS OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WERE
ALSO OCCURRING AT TIMES WITHIN THIS LIGHT SNOW REGION. ALSO...IN
AREAS WEST OF THE COLD FRONT...A STRONG NORTHERLY WIND WAS DRIVING
WIND CHILL VALUES DOWN INTO THE TEENS AND SINGLE DIGITS.
THE COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE ITS FORWARD SPEED THROUGH
THIS EVENING...AND WILL MOVE INTO FAR EASTERN OKLAHOMA BY MIDNIGHT.
