...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM CST THIS EVENING
THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON...
THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR
* PORTIONS OF ILLINOIS AND IOWA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
AREAS...IN ILLINOIS...BUREAU...CARROLL...HENRY IL...JO
DAVIESS...MERCER...PUTNAM...ROCK ISLAND...STEPHENSON AND
WHITESIDE. IN IOWA...CEDAR...CLINTON...DELAWARE...DUBUQUE...
JACKSON...JOHNSON...JONES...LINN...LOUISA...MUSCATINE...SCOTT
AND WASHINGTON.
* FROM 6 PM CST THIS EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON
* SNOW MELT FROM UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES HAS LEFT SOME
STREAMS AND CREEKS NEAR BANK FULL. SEASONALLY MODERATE TO
HEAVY RAINFALL FROM MONDAY EVENING INTO TUESDAY WILL ADD
ADDITIONAL WATER TO AREA STREAMS AND CREEKS. IN ADDITION...
RIVER ICE MAY LEAD TO ICE JAMS WHICH COULD RESULT IN LOCALLY
HIGHER RIVER LEVELS.
* GIVEN THE SATURATED OR NEARLY SATURATED SOILS...ANY HEAVY
RAINFALL WOULD RESULT IN NEARLY IMMEDIATE RUNOFF. THE FORECAST
RAINFALL AMOUNTS WOULD LIKELY RESULT IN FLOODING OF LOW LYING
AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS...INCLUDING MANY SMALLER CREEKS AND
STREAMS. THE RUNOFF MAY ALSO EVENTUALLY RESULT IN FLOODING OF
SOME OF THE LARGER RIVERS...EXCEPT FOR THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER
WHERE FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED.
A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS. MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND TAKE ACTION IF A
FLOOD WARNING IS ISSUED OR FLOODING DEVELOPS.
