Nowcast as of 9:00 PM CST on January 7, 2008
Now regional weather discussion... strong to severe thunderstorms continue to develop over parts of south central and southeast Oklahoma this evening. The most likely area for severe storm development through 11 PM will remain in the area from around Hughes and Seminole counties southwestward to Murray County where deeper moisture and strong shear remain in place. Further west...showers and thunderstorms will continue to spread eastward from western into central Oklahoma as an upper level disturbance moves eastward from the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles. Although moisture will be more limited in these areas...instability will be sufficient for a few storms to produce small hail. Brief heavy rain and gusty winds can also be expected with the stronger storms. A cold front from near Ponca City to Elk City at 9 PM will continue to move slowly southward this evening. Temperatures behind the front will drop into the 50s and 40s...with 60s prevailing ahead of the front.
