WINTER STORM WATCH.
THE WINTER STORM IS TRACKING SLIGHTLY FURTHER SOUTH AND IS SOMEWHAT
WEAKER. THEREFORE...HEAVY SNOW IS NOT EXPECTED AND THUS THE WINTER
STORM WATCH HAS BEEN CANCELLED. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3
INCHES ARE EXPECTED SOUTH OF I-90 BEGINNING LATER TONIGHT AND INTO
THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

.LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS TONIGHT BEFORE

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A SNOW
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 7 PM CDT THURSDAY. THE
WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
A LATE SEASON SNOW IS EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE AREA TONIGHT AND
THURSDAY MORNING. INITIALLY...RAIN MIXED WITH SNOW IS EXPECTED
BEFORE THE PRECIPITATION CHANGES TO MODERATE SNOW AFTER MIDNIGHT.
SNOWFALL TOTALS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 3 TO 5 INCHES ACROSS
THE ADVISORY. THE SNOW SHOULD TAPER OFF TO LIGHT SNOW DURING THE
MORNING HOURS ON THURSDAY AND GRADUALLY END DURING THE AFTERNOON.
A SNOW ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY

CENTRAL PLAINS TONIGHT AND THURSDAY. WARM AIR TO THE SOUTH OF THIS
STORM TRACK WILL BE LIFTED OVER THE COOLER NORTHERN PLAINS
AIR. THIS WILL ALLOW WIDESPREAD RAIN AND SNOW TO DEVELOP TONIGHT
OVER SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA...SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA...AND NORTHWEST
IOWA. THE THREAT OF HAZARDOUS WINTER WEATHER WILL BE ALONG AND
NORTH OF INTERSTATE 90 NEAR THE JAMES RIVER...EXTENDING TO 20 TO
40 MILES SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 90 FURTHER EAST. LIGHT RAIN AND SNOW
IN THIS AREA WILL INCREASE AND QUICKLY BECOME ALL SNOW THIS
EVENING. SNOW WILL THEN BE HEAVY AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY IN THE
HEAVY SNOW WARNING AREA. THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY
DECREASE THURSDAY.
TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE 6 TO 9 INCHES IN THE
WARNING AREA...CENTERED ROUGHLY ALONG A LINE FROM HURON SOUTH
DAKOTA TO PIPESTONE AND JACKSON MINNESOTA. SNOWFALL OF 3 TO 6
INCHES IS EXPECTED IN THE ADVISORY AREAS...WITH AROUND AN INCH
POSSIBLE FURTHER SOUTH ALONG THE MISSOURI RIVER.
SIGNIFICANT BLOWING SNOW IS NOT EXPECTED...BUT THE SNOW IS GOING
