Upstream across southern illinois and southwest indiana. Rain and
Embedded thunderstorms were training northeast and will produce
Excessive rainfall amounts of an additional 1 to 3 inches this

Several roads have been closed in dubois...crawford...scott and
Floyd counties due to flooding and additional road closures are
Expected all across the warned counties as rainfall rates of up to
One half inch an hour continue.
Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
Areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
Deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
Enough to sweep vehicles off the road. When encountering flooded

At 758 pm central daylight time ...light to moderate rain continued over
much of
Eastern missouri and southwest illinois...primarily along and east
Of a linn...troy line...and this rain will continue for the
Remainder of the evening. Numerous creeks and streams in the area
Were reported to be near bankfull...with flooding reported in many
Low lying and poorly drained areas.
The heaviest rain has ended along and west of a jefferson
City....montogomery city line. However...runoff from the heavy
Rains of earlier in the day continues to keep water levels high. In
Boone county between columbia and harrisburg...several county roads
Are covered with about 1 foot of water...and low water crossings
Contain fast flowing water. Small creeks and farm fields are
Flooded as well.
The greatest danger from flooding often occurs at night...as
Darkness often obscures the threat from the flood waters. So...use
Extreme caution if you live near flood prone areas...or if you are
Driving into areas that are known to flood during times of heavy
Rain. If you come across a road that is flooded...turn around and
Find another route to your destination. Remember...no trip is worth
Your life.

Effingham...flora...lawrenceville...marshall...newton...olney...robinson...
Toledo...altamont...annapolis...beecher city and bible grove.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the road. The
Water depth may be too great to allow your vehicle to cross safely.
It only takes a few inches of water to cause your vehicle to float.
Low water crossings are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not
Attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It
Only takes a few inches of swiftly flowing water...to carry vehicles
Away.
