through tuesday afternoon
period of showers and thunderstorms will remain possible through
Early tuesday morning leading to areas of flash flooding.
Showers and thunderstorms early this morning have led to areas
Of excessive rainfall and flash flooding...mainly in counties
Along and south of missouri highway 60 over southern missouri.
This round of rainfall will end later this morning. Another
Round or two of widespread heavy rainfall of 2 to 3 inches with
Locally higher amounts will occur tonight and monday as a cold
Front approaches and moves through the region. This will lead to
More of a widespread flooding threat.
Due to the recent heavy rainfall the ground remains moist.
Additional rainfall of the magnitude expected will result in rapid
Runoff. This runoff will be enhanced by the topographical effects
And rocky soils of the ozarks resulting in flooding of low water
Crossings and other low lying areas sunday.
Widespread heavy rainfall will occur monday into tuesday morning
With the passage of a cold front. This front will produce strong
To severe thunderstorms along with heavy rainfall in short
Duration. These thunderstorms will likely travel over similar
Paths aiding in the development of flash flooding. The heaviest
Rainfall will occur over most of the area during this time frame
And this is when the greatest risk for flash flooding will occur.
