ALONG THE SOUTHEAST FLORIDA COAST, THIS IN COMBINATION WITH THE
STRONG ONSHORE FLOW AND RESULTING WAVE ACTION FROM HURRICANE IKE
WILL CONTINUE TO RESULT IN A HIGH RISK OF DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS
AND POSSIBLE MINOR BEACH EROSION. LOW COASTAL AREAS FROM MIAMI-
DADE TO PALM BEACH COUNTIES MAY ALSO EXPERIENCE MINOR FLOODING AS
TIDES ARE EXPECTED TO RUN ALMOST A FOOT ABOVE NORMAL AS THE STORM
PASSES. THIS WILL BE ESPECIALLY ENHANCED NEAR THE TIME OF HIGH
TIDE WHICH WILL BE 3 AND 5 AM TUESDAY MORNING.
WINDS...
SUSTAINED WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WILL LIKELY CONTINUE MAINLY ACROSS
PORTIONS CLOSER TO THE COAST OF BROWARD, MIAMI DADE, AND MAINLAND
MONROE COUNTIES THROUGH AT LEAST TUESDAY EVENING. ACROSS THE
REMAINDER OF SOUTH FLORIDA, WINDS OF 15 TO 20 MPH ARE MOST LIKELY.
WIND GUSTS OF AROUND 40 MPH WILL BE LIKELY IN SQUALLS TONIGHT
THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.
INLAND FLOODING...
1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS MAINLAND SOUTH
FLORIDA THROUGH WEDNESDAY WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE
ESPECIALLY IF A RAINBAND CONTINUALLY MOVES ACROSS THE SAME AREA
FOR SEVERAL HOURS. NO WIDESPREAD FLOODING IS LIKELY AT THIS TIME.
TORNADOES...
MAINLAND SOUTH FLORIDA WILL BE IN A FAVORED LOCATION FOR QUICK
STRIKING TORNADOES AND WATERSPOUTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE OUTER
RAINBANDS OF IKE, PARTICULARLY BEGINNING LATE TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY.
LOCAL MARINE IMPACTS...
OVER THE ATLANTIC WATERS AND BISCAYNE BAY, EAST WINDS OF 25 TO 30
KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 40 KNOTS ARE LIKELY TONIGHT. WINDS OF AROUND 25
KNOTS ARE LIKELY TUESDAY THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY BEFORE SUBSIDING. THE
HIGHEST WINDS WILL OCCUR OVER THE WATERS OFF THE MIAMI-DADE COAST.
SEAS OVER THE ATLANTIC WILL INCREASE TO 8 TO 12 FEET TONIGHT,
HIGHEST OVER THE MIAMI-DADE COASTAL WATERS. SEAS WILL SLOWLY
SUBSIDE TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY, BUT REMAIN ABOVE 7 FEET
THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
OVER LAKE OKEECHOBEE, WINDS OF AROUND 20 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 30
